The insights I have gained from learning about research is to analyze the different types of research and what do they mean. I did not realize that there was different types of research. My ideas about the nature of doing research has change is when you start off doing the research you have to have a topic and than from there you have to do the subtopic and brainstorm the main points to form an outline. The
planning, designing and conducting the research in early childhood did I learn is respecting the justice and fairness in everyone regardless of their age, gender, and culture. I also learn to have a consent form in place of doing my research and keeping my personal bias to myself and do not let interfere with my research. The challenges I have encountered was analyzing between the quantitative designs and the qualitative designs. The ways did I meet them is doing the assignment and reading the different materials in the textbook to give me a better understanding of what they mean and examples of how to use them in a research. My perceptions has been modified as a result of this course is to analyze more better of my topic of doing my research, learning who is going to be in my research, learning about the independent and dependent variable. It made me think in deep thoughts and was very challenging.
I just want to say I really enjoyed everyone from these past eight weeks. To my colleagues and Dr. Todd I felt like I learned a lot from your comments and post on blackboard and the blogs from this course. I do not like to say good bye, I will say to all of you I will see you later, and I wish everyone much success and Happy Holidays to everyone!!!!

Blog Assignment: Research Around the World
The current international topic is supporting the best practice for the code of ethics in early childhood education Australia. The best practice they support are emotional foundations of learning, building trust and self esteem, communication, the developing of the brain and everyday and learning play. The insight I gain of exploring with the international early childhood website is the Early Childhood Australia is the voice for young children since 1937 and they have been celebrating 75 years and they organization is the interests of young children, their families and those in early childhood field. The other information I found out about this website is that it supports research in practice series. The Research in Practice Series provides practical, easy-to-read resources for those involved in the early child field. They also have books to assists with those challenging issues which talks about the care and
education of young children, by offering effective new approaches.

Research that Benefits Children and Families -Uplifting Stories Week 3
The positive research that I did with children and families is the Early Head Starts program.
The Early Head Starts programs helps children and families from birth to three years old.
In the research it helps a child with their assessments with their cognitive, physical, social-emotional,
and language development. The parent assessments help parents to get involve with the child's development, parent meeting, and parent council meetings. It also helps the teachers with the observation and documentation of the child's development. The Early Head Start program focus on the School Readiness Goals. The school readiness goals focus on approaches of learning, cognitive, language and literacy, social/emotional, and physical. The research helps the children and families with their studies.
Being a teacher in the Early Head start program has help understand the children and families culture,
traditions, and bond with the children and families. In my story one of parents had bug bites in her apartment and she had to move out her from her old apartment to her new one. She had to throw a lot of her belongings away. She was a single parent with two girls and she really do not have any family in North Carolina. So I told her if she need me on that Saturday I would help her move. She was like I don't have any money to give you, I was like I am not charging you anything I am doing this from my heart. Eventually I help her moved and this parent seen another side of me she had never seen. So I brought over some cleaning supplies help her clean her new apartment and she was good to go. A year later her daughter left the program and she would keep in contact with me to let me know how her child was doing at school and everything. So one day she call me up and was like what are you doing this afternoon you and your daughter, and my response was like nothing we just chilling out. She was I want to take you out the eat and I was like you don't have to do that and she was like yes I do, remember the time you came and help me move and I was like yes. Well I want to take you out so I agree but she was like I still do not have transportation and I was like I will come to get you. I tell this story because as a teacher you never know what lives you touch when it comes to families.

Blog Assignment: Your Personal Research Journey
The topic I chose was Parent Involvement. I chose parent involvement because as a teacher it is
very essential to a child's development. Parent Involvement helps a child with their social/emotional,
cognitive, language, and physical skills. Parent involvement also helps to learn about different cultures in the classroom. For example I had a parent from China and we dress up in the clothing of China and she brought food that she cook and we experiment of eating with chop sticks. We also sit down on the floor like Chinese and the children love it. We was listening to Chinese music and opening our fortune cookies.
The research chart gives me an insight of learning of different was of doing my research. It helps me to brainstorm the information and look ask questions like "how, when, where", is the topic is essential to my research, It also helps me to read more and look at different resources of my research.

Week 8 Final Blog Assignment
The three consequences of learning about the early childhood and my professional and professional development is global learning with other teachers around the world, networking, and learning for teachers of how they teach and educated teachers around the world. It gave me insights of learning from different countries of how they do things with their education and testing standards and how they do their curriculum . The one goal for the international awareness of issues and trends is being a teacher along with my colleagues and educators to advocate for children and families around the world. This is how you become active in your community and global around the world. This also helps teachers and educators with their professional development. I feel like I have learn a lot from my colleagues of how they made international contact with other people around the world and it just fascinating how we made connections with people about the early childhood. I just like to say I enjoyed all my colleagues and I have learn from each and I do not like to say goodbye I like to say see you later and wish everyone much success in the early childhood education.

The three insights I have gained from the UNESCO's Early Childhood Care and Education is
this website helps to support early childhood policy development to build a solid foundation for a
child's lifelong learning. The second insights I have gained is learning of the high quality childcare.
In high quality childcare is for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, promotes motivation,
confidence, good cognitive and linguistic development and school readiness. School readiness promotes physical, cognitive, social/emotional, literacy and language, and approaches of learning.
The third insights I have gained is the curriculum in early childhood care and education. The curriculum
helps the program standards for parents to understand child/staff ratios, educator qualification, and indoor and outdoor learning environments. Children learn best within positive relationships-with
their parents and families, with their peers and with well-trained early childhood educators. These are the insights I have gained from the UNESCO's Early Childhood Care and Education. The website is

Sharing Web Resources Week 4
Sharing the resource of the Early/Head Start programs has help me professional of learning different children and families around the world. It also helps you network with people in the early childhood education. The e-newsletter helps you to be involved with the parents, teachers, children, and educators in the community around the world. It helps you to participate in events like parent meeting, and policy council meeting and legislative so we can network together as one community and one big happy family. The e-newsletter helps with the economists, neuroscientist, and politicians to network with the resources that are partnerships with the Early/Head State programs .This helps support the mission, the children, and teachers in the Early/Head Start program and the early childhood education. We can not do it alone we all have to network together to make it better for the children, the families and the community.
I learn from this newsletter to network together as a community. You learn the educational, health,
economic, and law benefits of the Early/Head Start programs of helping children with families in the community around the world and how do they do things. This is a good resource for the community to learn thorough out the world. The website name is http://www.nhsa.org//

Getting to Know Your International Contacts-Part 1
In the Childhood Poverty Research and Policy Centre the poverty in the country in Mexico had a lot
of issues. The three insights I gained from this website is how poverty effects low income families when the woman are pregnant, food, and the climate change of the weather. If the women do not get the medical attention that is needed they have a high risk of still-births. In the country of Mexico with the poverty issues they have a lot of still-births when women become pregnant because they can not get the help they need and they do not have the resources like we do. The climate change of a temperature and the rainfalls have a lot to do with the crops growing for them to sell to make the money and it can affect people that have jobs and not able to work due to work.A household in Mexico is considered to be capacity poor if its members cannot afford to cover their basic expenses on food, health and education, according to an officially defined basket. Finally, a household is considered to be in asset poverty if its members cannot cover their expenses of food, health, education, dressing, home and public transportation. This is the insights I gained from the poverty issues.

Sharing Web Resources
The newsletter that I subscribe
was the National Head Start program. Even though I am
a teacher in
the Early Head Start program I wanted to know what is going on with the
National
Head Start Programs around the world. Basically the
programs are the same but they just
deal with different age groups. My concerns are the
budget cuts that is happening
around the different states. In Durham, North
Carolina which I am from we had a 120
slots available for children in the Early Head Start
program. Ten percent of them children
they have to take is children with special needs. They
took away 20 slots which was home based
programs. That was a disappointment to our teachers,
parents, and the community.
The
newsletter caught my attention by how major the cuts are affected children, teachers
and families all around the world. The organization
focus how can we prevent these budget cuts
and we can make it better for our families that are
living in poverty. Congress believes that the
budget cuts are harmless and can be ignored. As
teachers, educators, parents, legislative,
and the community we have to show congress how
painful these cuts are in our own community.

My Supports
My support system is my daughter, brothers, father, godparents,
and colleagues at
the job, church, friends and the professor. My daughter is only
thirteen years old and by me
being a single parent she see what I go through as
getting my college education. I make sure that
her needs are meet and sometimes she wake up in the
middle of the night and she be like “mom
you still up doing your homework and I be like yes”
so sometimes she be like mom “I am so
proud of you”.
She is my motivation of keeping me doing the best that I can do. My brothers,
father, and godparents have been a big inspiration
since my mother’s death. My plans was not
get a master’s degree but when I receive my Bachelor’s
degree my brothers was like you know
what is next. I was like what’s next I am chilling
no more degrees and they was like you need to
go for your master degree. They gave me the motivation to get my master’s
degree.
My
professors, colleagues at the job, friends and the motivates to continue to
get my education and do the best I can. I look up to
the professor of Ilene Britt because she was
my advisor at Durham Technical Community college
when I was getting my associate’s degree
in early childhood. She seen the determination that I
had and I was eager student and love being
a teacher in the early childhood education. I still
talk to her about advice and career moves that I
want to make and she be like you can do it. Since my
mother’s death my friends has step in of
picking up my daughter when she has cheerleading
practice while I am still at work or when she
has tutoring at school. My mother use to do these
things for me so I will appreciate my friends
of helping me out when it comes to my daughter. If these
people were not in my life I do not
know how I will make it. I appreciate how they are
there for me in my darkest days of losing my
mother, the phone calls, a shoulder to cry on, but I
also lean on GOD to give me the strength to
make it through. My colleagues on the job look up to
me at work when they want to further they
education in early childhood of getting their
associate and bachelors degree. They ask me
how did I start out with classes and how do I do it
of taking care of my daughter and working
a full-time job and tell them if I can do you can do
it to. I told them it takes determination and
self displine.
The
challenge for me is being a single parent, working a full time job, and going
to
college. It
gets challenge for me when my daughter goes back to school, working full time,
my daughter doing extra curriculum activities such
as cheerleading and dancing. Sometimes I do
not know if I am coming and going but that is when
my support system gives me a helping hand
and helps me out. My support system keeps me positive
and they are so encouraging and
supportive of anything I do. The most important
thing is they tell me they love me a lot and that
means more to
me than anything. It is the littlest thing a person can do to be so supportive
and
encouraging.

My parents and family
experiment with play by letting me go outside do activities like kickball, jump
rope hop scotch, and skating. Skating was my life and my mother brought me my
first pair of skates. They were white skates with red wheels. I was so excited.
This helps me with my physical and cognitive skills. My play was explored more
outdoors with nature and play with my childhood or classmates at school.
I feel like that play
is different from the time I use to play because technology has taken over.
Children have computer, Ipads, video games, cell phones, so they don’t ha I do
not see the children outside playing until the street light come on. When we
play as kids we play hard that we did not have a choice but to take a bath
because we were sweaty and you play hard all day.
My play as a child
was a wonderful experience. I was able to experiment with nature of making playing
with dirt making mud pies, and I would skate all day in the street down hills
with no knee pads or helmet back than because we did not need them. I love to
skate but I will skate after my homework was done and chores were finish and I
would skate until the street light came on. Play has helped to understand a
child’s development by using their cognitive, language, social/emotional
development.

Week 6 Testing for Intelligence
Assesments
When children take a assessments it put a stress with the
teachers, parents, and the
children. Assessment
can be challenging for children. Assessment can be challenge for
young children that
takes time to administer assessments probably. Assessments primarily should
be administered in a
one-on-one setting to each child by his or her teacher. In addition, a child’s
attention span is often very short and the
assessment should therefore be administered in short
segments over a period of a few days or even weeks.
There are differing opinions about the value
of using standardized tests to assess the abilities
and knowledge of young children. Research
with young children standardized tests for student
grade placement of school retention can to
be harmful to children’s ultimate achievements.
High
quality assessment results can help shape school policy, lead to improvements in
teacher performance, and determine factors that may
affect learning such as health care, child
care, and preschool services. To assure children receive
needed services, direct measures are
needed to track children’s early learning.
In
South Korea children assessment is a system of diagnostic assessments called
the
National Assessment of Educational Achievement. Each
year, achievement tests in two
subjects are administered to all students in each of
the grade six, nine, and ten. These
tests serve a purely informational purpose and are
not reported by individual student. Students
are also regularly assessed by their teachers at all
levels, and they receive “Student School
Records” or “Student Activity Records” which provide
detailed information about their
academic performance. These records include
information on academic achievement by subject,
attendance, extra-curricular and service
involvement, special accomplishment, conduct and
moral development, physical development, details of
awards and anecdotal performance
descriptions. These records are increasingly used as
measures of student performance for
admission at both senior secondary and university
level, in order to alleviate the examination-
based pressure felt by many South Korean students.
These are the assessments that are done in
South Korean.

Week 4 Consequences of Stress on Children's Development/Poverty
Poverty
As
a little girl I remember that my parents welcome this couple into our home
because
they were having a hard time with financial
problems. My mom was a manager at Byrd’s
grocery store and it was a her co-worker. The
co-worker had just started working because she
Just had a baby and her husband were paying all the
bills while she was on maternity leave.Well
her husband could not afford to pay all the bills so
they water and lights was turn off and they
was hungry. My
mother knew he co-workers very well and she could tell that was
something was wrong with her because she was not
herself and looks very stress. Eventually she
told my mom what was going on and my mother called
my dad to talk over the situation to see if
her co-worker could come and stay with us. They
stayed with us for three days until they got
their lights and water on. This family was a
Caucasian family and we are an African-America
family so my
mother reached out to help this family and their baby. While staying with us
for three days they took showers, and ate dinner around
the table with us. I remember when my
mom put me to bed and I ask her “mom why are they
staying with us” and my mother respond
“they are staying with us because they are having a hard
time and it is good to help somebody
because you never know when you need help”. I remember that and my mom always had a
heart with people.
The
country that I wanted to learn more about poverty is Sweden. Sweden
affects
children in their development. Children that are from Sweden grew up in
poverty,
absolute or relative, suffers from bad health,
produce worse school worse school results, lack
self-esteem, and more likely to be victims of
violence. People speaks so highly of the country
of Sweden. but is one of the 35 rich countries who let
children fall into deep poverty if compared
to the population as total. The Urban Partnerships
for Poverty Reduction program has improved
living conditions in Sweden and it also promotes
inclusive and sustainable human development
and works to reduce poverty in all its dimensions.
It helps people in equality and to produce jobs.

Child Development and Public Health Week 2
Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding
is meaningful to me because it helps the mother and the child bond more
together. Babies need to feel that nurturing, love,
and security from their mother and the world
around them. Breastfeeding also helps mothers of not
buying that expensive formula and it is
meeting the infant’s needs. The benefits of
breast-feeding help the baby by having fewer ear
infections, allergies, less asthma, and a higher IQ,
less likely to attend college.
In
the country of Kenya breastfeeding is on the high rise of demand for mothers.
Kenya
has made significant strides in boosting exclusive
breastfeeding, even passing a new law banning
the promotion of infant formula. A major part of
prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission
remains. The law, passed in September of the year of
2012 that prohibits the promotion of
complementary foods and forbids heath workers from
accepting gifts from formula
manufactures. It also requires formula packaging to
contain notices, warnings and necessary
information with respect to promotion of
breastfeeding and proper use of breast milk substitutes.
It is hope that the law will contribute to the
government’s push to encourage all mother to
breastfeed exclusively for at least six months. This
is particularly important for HIV-positive
women six month of exclusive breastfeeding is
associated with a three-to four-fold lower
risk of transmission compared to mixed feeding,
according to the UN Children’s Fund. Kenya
has adopted the UN World Health Organization (WHO)
recommendation that HIV-positive
mothers should exclusively breastfeed their infants
for the six months of life, introducing
appropriate complementary foods thereafter, and
continue breastfeed for the first 24 months
of life.
Breastfeeding
has impact my future work as being an Early Head Start teacher of
providing resources for new moms that are pregnant
to know the benefits of how it is important
to breastfeed your child. Unfortunately I was not
able to breastfeed my child due to the fact that
my breast would not produce the milk. I was real upset
because I wanted to bond more with my
child but there are other ways I knew to bond with
my child. As a teacher I see a difference when
a parent breastfeed their child and when they don’t
breastfeed their child. When children are not
being breastfeed I see children more sick with
colds, allergies, and ear infection.
Some children
have a lot of ear infections that causes them later
on to have tubes in their ears. This is how
breastfeeding is important to my work.

Childbirth In Your Life Around The World Carmon S Week 1
My childbirth experience was a happy occasion but a
high risk pregnancy. My pregnancy
was high risk before I had my daughter on September
29, 1999 due to the fact of the year
January of 1994 I had a miscarriage of triplets. In
the year of 1994 at the time when I was
going with my ex-boyfriend and I have been with him for over five years and I did not know
that in his family that twins had ran on both sides
of his family with his parents. Three
months after I went for my checkup and found out
that I was having triplets I had a miscarriage.
After the miscarriage me and my ex-boyfriend had
broke up and we grew further apart. The
miscarriage hurt us both because we both was buying
baby materials and we was happy about
me being pregnant. At the time I was working at
child care center but after I had the miscarriage
I had to leave that profession that I love.So I took
a break and work for the company at IBM.
In
the year of 1999 I had dated another guy and meet him at IBM and went with him
for
four years. After
Valentine’s Day I found out that I was pregnant. At first I could not believe it
because I was scare of having another child and
having a miscarriage is really hard. I had to go to
the high risk clinic every week so they could monitor
my pregnancy. On September 29, 1999, I
gave birth to a baby girl who weighs 6 pounds, 3
ounces, 19 inches long. When I had my baby
girl, my parents, my aunt, her dad, was in the room
coaching me as I was having my baby. To
have love and support from my family meant the world
to me. As I had her and when she came
out everybody was happy and crying, my dad was the
first to hold her and my mom was like she
is healthy she has all her fingers, toes, her two
eyes, and a head full of hair. Not only that was a
happy occasion but I knew that this baby would be
surrounded with love.
In
the country of England birth experience is different in the United States. I
have learned
in England is when a mother give birth to a child they have two choices of
give birth in the
hospital portion of the birthing ward where
epidurals were freely dispensed, and the second
option is when you have the baby in the birthing
center in the hospital where natural births
are encourage epidurals are not available. England
is real strict when it comes to personal
hygiene. Visitors are made to cleanse their hands
before entering the birthing ward and noise
is to be kept down to a bare minimum so the new mother
can get their rest and privacy. They
also have three midwives that checks on them every
15 minutes of giving birth to a child. They
also believe in natural childbirth. In the United States I feel like you do not
get a lot of rest of
having a baby in the hospital the nurse in your room
every chance they get. Pregnant women
also have a choice to get the epidural if they want
to. These are the difference of the births in
England and the United States.

My Colleagues
I just like to thank all my colleagues and my professor for being encourage, supported, and respectful
to each other for the past seven weeks. I feel like we was a team and that we was one big happy family
in the early childhood profession. I have also learn something different from my colleagues with help
me grow with resources in the early childhood. I wish every one much success.

Professional Codes Of Ethics That Are Meaningful To Me
We shall respect, value, promote, and encourage the active participation of ALL families
by engaging families in meaningful ways in the assessment and intervention processes.
We shall recognize our responsibility to improve the developmental outcomes of children
and to provide services and supports fair and equitable manner to all families and children we serve.
Serve as a advocate for children, and their families, and their teachers in community and society.
These codes are ethics are significance to my professional life by me being a teacher I do the best to my abilities by promoting a learning, nurturing, and loving environment. I also have a open door policy where
parents came come in my classroom and volunteer to do activities which help them with their child developmental learning. Parents will come in and implement with activities with the lesson plans such as reading a book at circle time, having diversity families sharing their culture as far food, music, and books. I also have diversity pictures, dolls, people in the block area, and books that are in my class room. We have social events at the center like our spring and fall social that way the teachers, children, families, and the community are networking together as one. I also participate in the policy council meetings and the parent meetings so I know what is going in my community to better help serve the children and families in my community. These are the ways that the codes of ethics are significance for my professional life.

About Me
A famous quote that is meaningful to me is Good parents give their children Roots and Wings. Roots to know where home is, wings to fly away and exercise what's been taught them. Wise Phrase by Jonas
Salak. This quote means to me as a child and growing up you will remember the good advice, teaching, and
knowledge of what your parents have taught you. When you leave home you will never forget it.
My favorite book is "Click, Clack, Moo Cows That Type" by Doreen Cronin the reason I like this book because the cow is typing a letter to farmer Brown of the different things that want so the cows is not doing
anything until they get the things they want.
A story about a child's life that touched my heart was when these two parents adopted a baby from a Russian and she had to choose between three little baby that was in a crib. At the time the baby was only eight months old so she was going to pick another child but the child Zoe reached out to her and her husband and the parents knew right than that was going to adopt that child. When Zoe came over to the United States
I was her first teacher at the childcare center. It was a very hard transition for me and my co-worker at that time she finally began to eat, she was comfortable with her environment and we gave her lots of love. Zoe would cry everyday and we comfortable her and made her feel safe in our environment. The mom would cry at times and we will tell her it things will get better and it takes time. As time went by it did and now until this day she is in the second grade and doing very good in her school. She is a straight A student. That is my Zoe!!!
A image of a child'd drawing that I like is when the child drew a picture of their house and they was outside planting flowers in the grass. To me that shows that the parents is taking time out to teach the child about nature and how to plant flowers in the dirt.
My passion for the early childhood field is that I love to work around children. I want to teach, educate, and be an advocacy for children but I also want to make an difference in a child life. I love children all around the world.
