Blog Assignment Week 4
As I evaluated myself as a communicator I communicate better in small groups than in large groups. When it comes to public speaking and large crowds I do not make good eye contact to crowds and my voice is not loud for the crowd not to hear me. The one thing that surprise me when it comes to small groups is a a good communicator when it comes to talking to people one by one. When I am talking to people one by one I am able to make eye contact and I am not shy when it comes to communicating. The insights about communication that I have gained this week is I am a good communicator of expressing my thoughts and feelings of when it comes to staff meetings, parent-teacher conference, home visits, parent meetings, and policy council meetings. I am also a good communicator when it comes to giving a advice and also a good listener. I be truthful and tell it like it is. For example last week my brother call me wanted to leave his girlfriend and he was asking me what should I do because he was stress out. He was saying they arguing to much in front of his daughter, she was not working, and all this other stuff. I told him on the telephone I can't tell you what to do only you have to make that decision and my last words was to him was pray about it. I told him that the both of them do not argue in front of my niece and that is not good for her cause she listening to y'all arguing and it can effect her. This is how I evaluated myself as a communicator.

Shartarka,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing about your abilities to share your thoughts and feelings through your communications. I especially thought it insightful for you to urge your brother to pray about that very important decision. Relationships can be difficult however, they are not to be taken lightly. Even the best of people slip and argue in front of kids and adults alike. This is not good but it can be turned around. You are such a good sister!

Thanks for sharing you post. I to respond and interact more when I am in small groups as well as one-on one situations. Do you feel the same in One-on-one situations? When I get in front of a crowed lots of anxieties play a role in the way that I communicate as well. I think that was wonderful how you handled the situation with your brother. Prayer is the best answer for everything.
ReplyDeleteChawanda,
ReplyDeleteYes I feel comfortable talking to people one-on-one situations in small groups. I also panic when it is lots of crowds and speaking and talking to the audience. Prayer helps solve everything.

ReplyDeleteShartarka I we were a little opposite on our assessments I see that you like or perfer smaller groups to communicate in verses the larger group setting. I have always liked speaking or giving speeches in front of larger crowds because of the rebuttal issues. And I noticed that you are also like my friend you are a good listener. I have always been the talker so we are somewhat different:) great post

Hi Shartarka,
ReplyDeleteI also communicate better in small groups and one-on-one. According to my assessments and others I am considered a good listener. I like to give advice but just like you I always tell people to pray about their situations and leave it with God.
