Blog Assignment Week 6

The group experience that I went through was when we a staff meeting of employees not having
enough vacation days for a year with the boss and the director. Some of the employees get only nine days per year and we was asking our director is any way of would take any consideration of giving us more days and the answer was flat"no" and to see my co-worker expression and pain in their face it kinda got to my heart. The point they was trying to make is if you have death in the family you don't get pay, if you get sick you have to use your vacation days and the Christmas holiday we close for a week and you have to use some of our vacation days which is your nine days to get pay for the holidays. That was the hardest group for me to leave cause it had me thinking. I wish the closing of the group could have been more they would consider to add two or more days, or they could had say they would think about it. I think it would be a positive experience when I would adjourn with my colleagues as we are working on our master's degree. This will help us to keep in contact and network with each other in the early childhood education. We are learning global form each other around the world. Adjourning is an essential stage of teamwork because there is no "I" in team we all suppose to help and learn from each other. It helps us to become better teachers and educators in the early childhood education.

  1. Hi Shartarka,
Thank you for sharing this experience. Working for the school district I have seen some weird thing concerning sick days. I always wished we could give someone a sick day - but this was not allowed. The program I worked with was housed in a federal building and on federal holidays we would have to take a sick day or find a school that would be willing to house us for a day.
Like you I believe that our group can stay in contact. It takes effort and I believe we have what it takes to support each other as we continue in the field!

  2. Wow Shartarka I understand why you left your job. It can be really hard in our field when it comes to pay and benefits. I agree I think we will have a positive closing when we get our Masters Degree. Thank you for sharing.
